Study of Zb(b), Z→ µ⁺µ⁻ production with the CMS detector — •Natalie Heracleous and Adrian Perieanu — RWTH-Aachen, I. Physikalisches Institut Ib

We present a study of Z boson plus one b-jet, and Z decaying into muons, in proton-proton collisions at √s=7 TeV. This analysis is performed using the first 35 pb⁻¹ of data taken by Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector in 2010. We require at least one b-tagged jet with a specific lepton and jet selection. The cross section of this production which is one of the early measurements at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will be presented. Zbb is an irreducible background to the MSSM Higgs boson (bbh/H/A) discovery channel. The main backgrounds considered for Zbb are the tt, the Zcc and Zqq where q=u, d, s.
