Towards a Top Mass Measurement Using the Template Method at the ATLAS Experiment — •Stefan Guindon, Kevin Kröninger, Arnulf Quadt, and Elizaveta Shabalina — Georg-August-Universität, Göttingen, Germany
An important measurement at ATLAS is that of the top quark mass. The first result of a template method top mass analysis in the lepton + jets channel using the first 35 pb−1 of data recorded will be presented. Semileptonic tt-events are reconstructed using a kinematic fitter with b-tagging information. Templates are created from MC generated for different mass points. The template shapes are parametrized with functions linear in top mass. The top mass is calculated from the parametrization compared to 2010 data at √s = 7 TeV. Detailed studies of the expected statistical uncertainty along with different systematic uncertainties using ensemble tests will be presented.
