First measurements on and with a DESY readout module for a large prototype TPC — •Caiazza Sabato Stefano — DESY, Notkestrasse 85, Hamburg

In 2009 an effort was started to design and build a new kind of readout module for the Large Prototype TPC used by the LC-TPC collaboration to validate the technologies needed to build a TPC as a central tracking system for the ILD detector of the future ILC. This new readout module is built as a triple GEM stack for the amplification in connection with a pad based readout. It features a very lightweight construction and a ceramic support structure for the GEMS to ensure flatness in combination with minimal dead space. In the last year the design was completed and the first prototype of this module was succesfully produced. Test on this module started in autumn 2010 and I will present the design and the results of these first tests.
