MEGAlib simulations for the proposed GRIPS mission — •Aleksander Paravac und Karl Mannheim — Lehrstuhl für Astronomie Uni Würzburg
The proposed Gamma-Ray Imaging, Polarimetry and Spectroscopy Mission (GRIPS) consists of a gamma-ray monitor (GRM), an X-ray monitor (XRM) and an Infrared instrument (IRI).
For gamma-ray observation the GRM will work in the energy range between 200keV and 80MeV with a spatial resolution of ∼ 1∘.
We used the Medium Energy Gamma-ray Astronomy library (MEGAlib) to analyze the performance and detector response of the GRIPS GRM with respect to observations of galactic supernova remnants (SNRs). Special emphasis is given to the capability of GRIPS to detect nuclear de-excitation lines originating from Cosmic Ray acceleration in the young SNR Cassiopeia A.
