Search for slowly moving particles with the IceCube detector — •Mohamed Lotfi Benabderrahmane — DESY-Zeuthen, Platanenallee 6, D-15738 Zeuthen.
GUT and supersymmetry theories predict the existence of super-heavy particles like magnetic monopoles and Q-Balls. Cosmic magnetic monopoles and Q-Balls would move with sub-relativistic velocities. The pattern of the Cherenkov light originating from their passage in transparent media (ice, water) is different from the one of relativistic particles. Preliminary results on searches of slow monopoles with the IceCube detector will be presented.
