In the search of point sources of extragalactic neutrinos, it has been shown that if these sources are flaring, like their gamma-ray counterparts, their detection probability is enhanced by time-dependent analyzes when compared with a time-integrated one. We present two kinds of searches for neutrino flares based on maximum likelihood methods: one looking for correlations with multi-wavelength observations (triggered analysis) and another looking independently for neutrino flares over time-scales that are not fixed a-priori (untriggered analysis). These analyzes are applied to recent flares of known sources using data from the 79-string IceCube configuration (Online Level 2 filter data). The most stringent upper limits on the neutrino flux are derived.
