Improvement of the Reconstruction Accuracy of Muon Tracks in IceCube — •Benjamin Hoffmann, David Boersma, and Christopher Wiebusch — III. Physikalisches Institut, RWTH Aachen, D-52056 Aachen
Many analyses in IceCube depend critically on the accuracy of the reconstruction of muon tracks.
During the reconstruction, measured event observables are compared to the expectation for a given event hypothesis, and the likelihood of the observation is maximized with respect to that hypothesis. This maximum is determined by a numerical procedure.
This work is dedicated to comparing various methods and optimizing their parameters for a reconstruction that is as accurate and as efficient as possible.
