We report on an experiment at the KVI in Groningen using the AGOR facility, the magnetic spectrometer BBS, and HPGe detectors. The excitation and decay energies of the semi-magic nucleus 124Sn have been measured in coincidence by means of the (α, α′ γ) reaction at Eα = 136 MeV [1]. We closely looked at hadronic reactions, especially considering inelastic scattering. Because strong quadrupole transitions into the ground state could be observed, we focus in this work on the decay of 2+ states by γ-ray emission. We were able to determine the double-differential cross sections as well as the single α-scattering cross sections for almost all known 2+ states up to the particle threshold in 124Sn. In addition, we observed possible new branchings.
