Performance of the new Hades driftchambers — Burkhard Kämpfer, Roland Kotte, Lothar Naumann, Christian Wendisch, and •Jörn Wüstenfeld — Helmholtzforschungszentrum Dresden Rossendorf

Over the last year the HADES collaboration performed a series of commissioning beam times to consolidate the performance of a) the new Multiwire Drift Chambers (MDC), b) the new readout hardware and c) the new distributed event building. In this presentation we report on the current status of the MDC upgrade and the performance of the new detectors in view of the upcoming Au+̇Ȧu @ 1.25ȦĠeV production run. Besides the performance in beam with respect to signal quality and noise level, the presentation will also report on tests validating the usability of an Ar/CO2 gas mixture as MDC counting gas.
