The electric pygmy dipole resonance (PDR) has been studied by different experimental methods during the last years. In addition to the most common method of photon scattering, the (α,α′γ) reaction is used in order to gain knowledge of the PDR structure [1]. The comparison between results of both methods shows an energetic splitting of the PDR into two parts in some nuclei: One low energy part excited by both probes and a high energy part excited by photons only [2].
The (α,α′γ) coincidence experiments can be performed at the Big-Bite Spectrometer (BBS) at KVI together with an array of HPGe detectors for γ spectroscopy. Analysis results for double differential and α-scattering cross sections, angular correlations and branching ratios will be presented for the experiment on the nucleus 94Mo.
Supported by the DFG (ZI 510/4-1 and SFB 634), EURONS, the Bonn-Cologne Graduate School of Physics and Astronomy and by the Alliance Program of the Helmholtz Association (HA216/EMMI)
