We develop a method for calculating the self energy of a general quantum impurity problem using a distribution of finite size Anderson models. When used in the context of dynamical mean field theory it provides an extension of the exact diagonalization formalism which gives a continuous real frequency self energy without the need for analytic continuation from imaginary frequencies.
