QCD: from benchmark processes to discovery channels — •Giulia Zanderighi — University of Oxford
I review the status of today's theoretical description of Standard Model processes relevant for the analysis of Tevatron and LHC data. I also discuss the tools that are used of these phenomenological studies. I will thereby focus on cross-sections relevant for Higgs searches, both for the description of the signal and of the backgrounds, and on benchmark processes for discoveries. Finally, I will discuss recent ideas to further refine our abilities to perform technically challenging calculations.
