Search for Microwave Bremsstrahlung with CROME — •Radomir Smida — IK KIT, Karlsruhe, Germany

The CROME (Cosmic-Ray Observation via Microwave Emission) experiment is a small array of antennas for searching for radio emission in the GHz range from extensive air showers. It is expected that the short-lived plasma produced by the electromagnetic component of extensive air showers radiates in the microwave range due to molecular bremsstrahlung. Radiation from the atmosphere is monitored mainly in the extended C band (3.4--4.2 GHz) in coincidence with air showers detected by the KASCADE-Grande experiment. The detector setup and different methods used for determining the sensitivity of the detector are presented. First results after almost one year of data taking are presented.
