Inclusive Zbb Cross Section Measurement at √s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector — •Dan Vladoiu, Bonnie Chow, Johannes Ebke, Johannes Elmsheuser, Christian Meineck, Michiel Sanders, Dorothee Schaile, and Jonas Will — Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München
A precise experimental measurement of the inclusive Zbb cross section constitutes an important test for QCD theoretical predictions. Moreover, Zbb production is an important background process in Higgs searches. Experimental results from LEP, Tevatron and LHC collaborations favour a light Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson, implying that the dominant Higgs boson decay is H → b b. For the associated Higgs production with a Z boson where H → b b, Zbb is not only the dominant but also an irreducible background for which the cross section and kinematics need to be known precisely. In the gg→ H → 4ℓ channel, Zbb constitutes the largest reducible background. In this talk we present a study for the inclusive Zbb production cross section using data from 2011 taken with the ATLAS detector at √s=7 TeV.
