Reconstruction of the diTau mass in Z → ττ events with the ATLAS Detector — •Despoina Evangelakou — G-A Universitaet Goettingen
The third lepton generation is of highest importance for the physics at the LHC, in particular for Standard Model measurements and searches for new physics such as the Higgs boson. The Z → τ+τ− → lepton-hadron decay is used here to test different reconstruction methods for the ττ mass.
For the studies the data collected with the ATLAS detector during the 2011 run of the LHC is used, and the relatively clean signature of the Z → τ+τ− lepton hadron channel. The methods considered are the effective mass, the collinear approximation, the mass bound (mBound), the “true ” transverse mass (mTrue) and the missing mass calculator (MMC).
