Search for Resonances Decaying to Top Quark Pairs with the CMS Detector — •Jan Steggemann and Martin Erdmann — III. Physikalisches Institut A, RWTH Aachen University
The invariant mass distribution of top-antitop quark pairs provides access to a wide range of models for new physics which predict new particles that decay to top-antitop quark pairs. Amongst others, such models include heavy Z’ bosons, axigluons, Kaluza Klein gluons in Randall-Sundrum models, and neutral scalar particles like Higgs bosons. The lepton-plus-jets event selection allows a full reconstruction of the top pair invariant mass over the complete kinematic range of Standard Model top pair production. The presented search includes the full dataset taken at the LHC in 2011, corresponding to 4.7 fb−1 of integrated luminosity.
