B± → J/ψ K± as Reference Channel in the Search for Bs → µ+µ− in ATLAS∗ — Peter Buchholz, •Bakul Gaur, Kai Grybel, Iskander Ibragimov, Valentin Sipica, and Wolfgang Walkowiak — University of Siegen
The decay of Bs → µ+µ− is strongly suppressed in the Standard Model (SM). SM extensions, however, predict enhanced branching fractions compared to the SM (∼ 3.6 · 10−9). Thus, Bs → µµ is an interesting channel for discovering New Physics at the LHC.
The Bs → µ+µ− branching fraction is measured relative to a reference channel, B± → J/ψ K+. The estimation of the B± yield, and the computation of its uncertainties is presented.
