Kinematic fitting of ttH events using a likelihood approach. — Kevin Kröninger, Arnulf Quadt, •Leonid Serkin, and Elizaveta Shabalina — II.Physikalisches Institut, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen
The Higgs mechanism is the generally accepted way to generate particle masses in the electroweak theory. If the Higgs boson is lighter than 130 GeV/c2, it decays mainly to a bb pair. To observe the Higgs boson at the LHC, a very promising channel in the Standard Model and the MSSM among the Higgs production channels with H→ bb decay is the production of a Higgs boson in association with top quarks. In this study, we discuss the channel where the Higgs decays to bb, one top decays hadronically and the second one leptonically. The signature of a ttH event is determined by one isolated lepton, missing transverse energy and six jets, out of which four are b-jets. This talk will give an overview over the analysis in ATLAS with a special focus on the reconstruction of the ttH topology using a kinematic fit.
