Search for massive stable particles with multiple charges at the ATLAS experiment — •Simone Zimmermann1, Klaus Desch1, and Markus Jüngst21Physikalisches Institut, Universität Bonn — 2CERN

This talk presents the current status of a search for multicharged stable massive particles with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. One theoretical realization of such particles could be so called QBalls, dense spherical symmetric solitons that can carry multiple electric charges.

Stable massive particles leave significantly more ionization in the detector than any particle predicted in the Standard Model. If, in addition, these particles carry a charge q greater than one, this ionization is larger by another factor of q2. This highly ionizing behavior of such particles is exploitet in the analysis. We focus on QBalls with charges 2e to 6e in the few hundered GeV mass range in our analysis. Any such particle will be evidence for new physics at the LHC.
