Since its detection, the Crab pulsar has been a known source of radio giant pulse (GP) emission. The characteristics of these pulses are flux densities of about a thousand times the regular pulses, their apparently non-periodical appearance at different pulse phases and their short widths of 1-2 microseconds. Several theories have been proposed to explain the mechanism behind the giant pulse emission, but in spite of over 40 years of investigations no uniform mechanism could be found which explains the origin and the observed characteristics sufficiently. In the framework of a multiwavelength campaign with the MAGIC telescopes and several radio institutes we present the first preliminary results from a statistical analysis of simultaneously observed radio GPs and very-high-energy gamma rays.
