Event correlation methods for gamma-ray sky maps — •Ramin Marx and Henning Gast — Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik, Heidelberg, Germany

In order to find populations of weak, individually not detectable, sources of very-high-energy gamma-rays in the data obtained with imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes, event correlation methods are studied and compared to the conventional ring background method by means of Monte Carlo simulations. The technique will be applied to data taken in the context of the Galactic Plane Survey of the H.E.S.S. array.
