Investigations to improve track reconstruction in IceCube — •Michael Soiron, David Boersma, and Christopher Wiebusch — III. Physikalisches Institut, RWTH Aachen, D-52056 Aachen

The IceCube Neutrino Observatory is a 1 km3 Cherenkov detector which consists of 5160 photomultiplier tubes in the ice at the geographic South Pole. Particle tracks are reconstructed by a likelihood analysis of the recorded photomultiplier signals. The reconstruction algorithms should be robust against detector properties like noise or uncertainties in the optical ice properties. There are various approaches to deal with these challenges. This presentation will give an overview and show test results of possible improvements.
