Extensions of the time-dependent searches of astrophysical neutrinos with the IceCube Detector in the 79-string configuration — •Angel Cruz1, Dariusz Gora1,2, and Elisa Bernardini1 — 1DESY, 15738 Zeuthen, Germany — 2Institute of Nuclear Physics PAN, Radzikowskiego 152, 31-342 Cracow, Poland
The candidate sources of high energy astrophysical neutrinos may show a flaring behavior; such as the gamma-ray emission of some known galactic and extragalactic objects. For this case, time-dependent analysis have shown to increase the source detection probability when compared with time-integrated ones. A recent development of this kind is the multi-flare approach in which several flare-like events from the same source are stacked, each one contributing to the total signal. Here we show the performance of this method using IceCube data in the 79-String configuration and compare it with the single-flare approach. In addition, we present the preliminary extension of the multi-flare scheme to the case in which the possible signals that come from different sources are also stacked.
