EPF, a physics show network across Europe — •Olivier Gaumer — EuroPhysicsFun
In recent years, physics shows have come to the forefront as a means of bridging the gap between scientists and the general public. Physics shows offer the possibility to draw attention of the spectators by performing experiments which demonstrate interesting physical phenomena explained through adventurous stories, humor and music.
EuroPhysicsFun is a cooperative project founded by European physics shows in 2004, in order to create a community of science shows. Nowadays 42 shows in 21 countries are belonging to the network, and every year about 2 physics show are joining the community. Considering the attendance, about 400000 people are participating to a show of the network every year.
EPF actively encourages the exchange of best practices between science shows by means of conferences and exchange programs. In this manner, the knowledge that is present in each physics show is made available to the community so that quality of these physics shows can be improved.
