X-ray absorption spectra of highly magnetised neutron stars like 1E 1207.4-5209 show several line features, whose origin still cannot be explained satisfactorily, due to the lack of atomic data at magnetic field strengths of about 10⁸ T. Our group has developed and optimized several tools to describe the properties of all atoms from hydrogen to iron, i.e. their wavefunctions, binding energies, bound-bound oscillator strengths and bound-free cross sections as well as partition functions in such fields. Thus we can provide all relevant data to experts in the field of modelling highly magnetised stellar atmospheres.
