Hadronic modeling of AGN variability — •Matthias Weidinger and Felix Spanier — ITPA, Campus Hubland Nord, Universität Würzburg, Emil-Fischer-Str. 31, 97074 Würzburg

The dominating radiation processes leading to the second peak in the typical double humped blazar spectra is still a matter of debate. We present a fully selfconsistent and time dependent emission model including particle acceleration of both, electrons and protons being able to describe the second emission feature as inverse Compton photons or as a non negligible hadronic component (i.e. proton synchrotron radiation as well as reprocessed radiation from photohadronic interactions). Outbursts of different types of blazars can be exploited to search for hadronic fingerprints in the interband-lightcurves due to the different timescales of electrons and protons with the model, hence being used to distinguish between the dominating particle species within the jet, i.e. the nature of the second peak, of the considered Active Galactic Nucleus.
