Using the delta-f PIC code EUTERPE the collisionless tearing mode instability has been studied in slab geometry employing standard gyrokinetic description. The linear growthrate has been benchmarked with a shooting method. Nonlinear one-mode simulations allow to investigate the saturation phase and the dynamics of the magnetic islands. Further extensions of the slab model including temperature gradients are presented.
