The charging of dust grains in sub - and supersonic plasma flows in the wake of other grains is studied by numerical simulations and experiments. Once a particle enters a Mach cone originating from another grain it is exposed to noteably different plasma conditions. Thus, a new balance of electron and ion currents establishes which results in a modified grain charge. This contribution uses the DiP3D three dimensional particle-in-cell code with both electrons and ions represented as numerical particles and the phase resolved resonance method to compare experimental observations and simulations of several aligned grains in sub- and supersonic plasmas flows.
