Optimization of Imaging Systems for Cold Quantum Gases — •Cristina Gherasim and Reinhold Walser — Institute for Applied Physics, TU Darmstadt, Germany
Optimizing the quality of imaging systems is of crucial importance for any precision measurement for cold quantum gas experiments. In the context of the QUANTUS experiment,
a free falling atomic cloud is prepared in the drop tower of the Center of Applied Space Technology and Microgravity (ZARM) in Bremen [1]. We present a detailed analysis of the imaging system by performing geometrical ray-tracing as well as physical optics considering diffraction effects based on commercial software. Various examples of the simulation and optimization results are presented in analysis diagrams.
