A Non-Gaussian master equation for the optomechanical strong coupling regime — •Niels Lörch and Klemens Hammerer — Leibniz Universität Hannover, 30167 Hannover, Germany
We study the dynamics of an optomechanical system consisting of a driven optical cavity that is coupled to a mechanical oscillator via radiation pressure force. It is well known that in such systems the classical nonlinear dynamics can give rise to self-induced oscillations. More recently the strong coupling regime, in which the optomechanical coupling g can exceed the cavity decay rate κ, is starting to become experimentally available. We derive a master equation for this regime as an expansion in g / ωM, where ωM denotes the frequency of the mechanical oscillator.
