Boron 12 in Double Chooz — Dennis Dietrich, Josef Jochum, Tobias Lachenmaier, Markus Röhling, and •Lee Stokes — Physikalisches Institut, Universität Tübingen
The Double Chooz reactor neutrino experiment is designed with the intention of measuring the disappearance of ν_e and therefore the third mixing angle Θ13.
The far detector has been taking data since April 2011 and the near detector is currently under construction.
With the arrival of the near detector comes a lesser overburden of roughly 120 m.w.e, giving rise to a higher muon rate in comparison to the far detector and consequently an increase in the amount of potential background in the form of cosmogenically created isotopes.
12B is one of these such isotopes and needs to be better understood with the possibility of constraining the 9Li background. In this talk I give an overview of what has been achieved so far.
