Search for the SM Higgs boson in the fully hadronic di-tau final state with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC — •Daniele Zanzi, Johanna Bronner, Sandra Kortner, Alessandro Manfredini, Rikard Sandström, and Sebastian Stern — Max-Planck-Institut für Physik, München
After the observation of a new particle consistent with the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson in decays into vector bosons and photons, it is now of primary importance to search for the SM Higgs boson through its decays into fermions, such as in events with two tau leptons. Probing the Higgs boson coupling to fermions is crucial to further understand whether the new particle has the properties predicted by the Standard Model.
This talk presents the result of the SM Higgs boson search in the fully hadronic di-tau final states with the ATLAS experiment. Such results are based on the 4.6 fb−1 of data collected in 2011 in proton-proton collisions at the center of mass energy of 7 TeV and on 13 fb−1 of data collected in 2012 at the center of mass energy of 8 TeV. The observed (expected) upper limit at 95% CL on the cross-section times the branching ratio is found to be 2.5 (2.3) times the SM prediction for a Higgs boson with mass of 125 GeV. The expected sensitivity with the full 2012 dataset will also be presented.
