Boosted decision tree studies in H→ WW searches at ATLAS — •Bonnie Chow, Johannes Elmsheuser, Philipp Heimpel, Christian Meineck, and Dorothee Schaile — Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München
Boosted decision tree studies for the search of the Standard Model Higgs boson in proton-proton-collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of √s=8 TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC are presented. The focus of the analysis is the Higgs boson decay channel H → W+W− → ℓ+ νℓ ℓ−ν_ℓ where ℓ = e, µ . Since the data taken by ATLAS up to now have revealed a particle consistent with the Standard Model Higgs boson, it is necessary to investigate such a signal. Multivariate analysis techniques can be used to gain sensitivity, and one such method involves the use of boosted decision trees to differentiate between different interactions. The talk will include the results obtained and a discussion of the advantages of such an analysis.
