Search for resonant smuon production in a dimuon and jets final state with CMS at √s = 7 TeV — •Sebastian Thüer, Matthias Endres, Andreas Güth, Thomas Hebbeker, Arnd Meyer, Markus Radziej, Lars Sonnenschein, Daniel Teyssier, and Martin Weber — III. Physikalisches Institut A, RWTH Aachen
In many supersymmetric scenarios R-parity is assumed to be conserved. However, abandoning R-parity conservation can result in a variety of new and interesting final states, some of which are not covered by the standard SUSY searches.
In the talk the search for resonant smuon production will be presented. In contrast to R-parity conserving models the smuon can be produced resonantly and can decay via a R-parity violating coupling as well. The final state with two muons and jets will be analyzed, one of the most promising selections to reduce standard model background processes is the possibility of two same sign muons in the signal. The search is performed with the 2011 data collected with the CMS experiment corresponding to 5.0 fb−1 at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV.
