Search for Resonance Like New Phenomena in Dijet Events at ATLAS — •Oliver Endner and Stefan Tapprogge — Institut für Physik, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz
Jets are a very sensitive probe for the structure of the Standard Model. The high energies that are reached by the Large Hadron Collider(LHC), give the opportunity to test QCD in a new kinematic regime and to search for physics beyond the Standard Model. Events consisting of two jets (dijet) with high transverse momentum produced in proton proton collisions are used in this analysis. The distribution of the invariant mass of the two jet system is sensitive to New Phenomena, which could be observed as resonances in the spectrum. In the absence of localised excesses limits on New Phenomena can be set. In this talk the search for New Phenomena in dijet events produced in 2012 at the LHC at a center of mass energy of √s=8 TeV and detected by the ATLAS experiment (∫L dt > 20 fb−1) will be presented.
