Tests of prototype chips for the CMS pixel detector upgrade — •Ievgen Korol, Ganna Dolinska, and Daniel Pitzl — DESY, Hamburg, DE

The CMS pixel detector will be upgraded in order to operate efficiently at increased LHC luminosity. A 4-layer barrel detector will be installed around a smaller beam pipe. A new version of the readout chip with extended buffering and faster readout to cope with increased occupancy is being developed. Results from lab and beam test measurements of resolution, thresholds, noise, and timewalk for the first prototype chip before and after irradiation will be presented.
