Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics in an Ellipsoidal Cavity — •Nils Griebe, József Z. Bernád, and Gernot Alber — Institut für Angewandte Physik, Technische Universität Darmstadt, 64289 Darmstadt, Germany
We discuss the dynamics of two two-level systems located in the foci of an ellipsoidal cavity which are coupled resonantly to a single photon of the radiation field inside this cavity. With the help of semiclassical methods a photonic path representation of the time evolution operator is developed. It is particulary well suited for describing the resonant photon exchange and modifications of the spontaneous decay process between both atoms inside the ellipsoidal cavity. In the limit of infinite separation of both foci our results reduce to the ones of a parabolic cavity.
