An important characteristic of the spin ice systems Dy2Ti2O7 and Ho2Ti2O7 as well as the spin liquid system Tb2Ti2O7 is the observation of spin freezing below a few hundred mK. We report vibrating coil magnetometry down to mK temperatures of these systems, addressing the evidence for field-induced transitions [1,2]. Of particular interest is evidence of putative magnetisation avalanches in the spin-frozen state, which for the case of Dy2Ti2O7 have been interpreted as magnetic monopole avalanches [3].
