Tools for Missile Program Verification — •Markus Schiller and Robert Schmucker — Schmucker Technologie, Klenzestr. 14, 80469 München, Germany
Ballistic missiles play a key role in international strategic considerations. They are seen as national assets, and any information about a country's missile programs and their status is closely guarded. Therefore, ballistic missile programs in countries like Iran or North Korea are shrouded in secrecy.
However, there are ways to distill a significant amount of knowledge out of even a few available data points. Missiles are subject to physics and technical realities, and a lot can therefore be learned by using certain tools and approaches for missile program analysis. The validity of the obtained results is demonstrated with a few selected examples.
Therefore, with the right tools, common knowledge about missile programs can be quickly verified - or falsified.
