Recently, the heat transport in a laser heated 2D plasma layer was studied [1]. Here we extend this analysis to magnetized dust which can be realized e.g. in a rotating electrode setup [2,3].
In an experiment oriented Langevin molecular dynamics (LMD) simulation, we investigate an inhomogeneous heating scenario where the energy input by the manipulation lasers [4,5] is restricted to the central region [1]. From the decay of the radial temperature profile, we determine the thermal conductivity as a function of magnetic field strength for a broad range of coupling parameters and across the liquid-solid transition.
