In the Super-FRS target and in the beam catchers at GSI stress waves are generated by intense, fast-extracted ion beams which deposit a high amount of energy within a very short time into target material. This may cause material damage. In this connection, measurements of thermal parameters and eddy-currents resistivity are planned as monitoring techniques. At the same time, to understand the physics of the destruction processes in more detail, also a comprehensive theoretical study of thermal parameters such as heat capacity and coefficient of thermal expansion as well as transport coefficients in warm dense matter is necessary. Here, latest experimetal and theoretical results for the critical parameters of the Super-FRS target are compared.
