FLUTE, a new linac based test facility and THz source is currently being built at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in collaboration with DESY and PSI. The electron source is an 2.5 cell S-band rf photo gun. It was design for high current applications and operated as CTF II gun at CERN. The status of the gun's rf commissioning will be presented.
