Hybrid solar cells, consisting of conjugated polymers and n-type inorganic nanocrystals (such as titania), have received great attention due to the combination of advantages such as low cost, high electron mobility, and good chemical and physical stability. To obtain high efficiency, a large surface-to-volume ratio of the inorganic semiconductor is desirable, since the excition dissociation occurs at the interface of the inorganic and the organic parts. We prepare titanium dioxide nanostructures from sol-gel synthesis assisted with a diblock copolymer templating approach. With GISAXS the inner film morphology is probed and compared with results from SEM and AFM. The nanocrystals size and phase are confirmed by XRD and GIWAXS.
