The high cost of rare earth elements has driven scientists to search for rare-earth-free magnets with high magnetocrystalline anisotropy. Uniaxial magnetocrystalline anisotropy in the (Fe,Co)2B system has been reported, where K1 of ~410 kJ/m3 at room temperature was obtained in (Fe0.7Co0.3)2B. However, the possibilities for practical application of this alloy system are by no means explored. Furthermore, (Fe,Co)2B system also provides a good model to study the origin of magnetocrystalline anisotropy in 3d elements. In this work, we investigated the intrinsic magnetic properties of (Fe,Co)2B alloy on single crystal and also extended measurements to high temperatures up to 873K. It is expected that this alloy can be used as a semi-hard magnet.
