ALICE: Past, Present, and Future — •Dariusz Miskowiec for the ALICE collaboration — GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung
The first period of data taking at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) was concluded in early 2013. ALICE, the dedicated heavy-ion experiment at the LHC, collected data with all collision systems and energies offered during these three years by the machine. In this presentation an overview of the most important physics results will be given and the emerging new insights into the reaction dynamics and the properties of the created quark-gluon matter will be discussed. A review of the physics objectives of ALICE for future LHC running and the related detector upgrade plans will conclude the talk.
