Untagged analysis of the B → η ℓ ν -Decay with the Belle-detector — •Uwe Gebauer, Cesar Beleno, and Ariane Frey — II. Physikalisches Institut, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Göttingen

The huge dataset of B mesons collected with the Belle detector at the Υ (4S) resonance allows for studies of CKM-suppressed b → u quark transitions, like the semileptonic decay B → η ℓ ν in this analysis. Two different channels for the resulting η are reconstructed, η → γ γ and η → π+ π π0. From the two B mesons coming from the Υ (4S) resonance, only the one containing this mode is reconstructed. The potentially high amount of final state particles from the other B results in a very large background after the reconstruction. A first attempt at multivariate techniques is explored in order to study the feasibility of separating signal and background events using Monte Carlo samples.
