A new way to search for right-handed currents in semileptonic B → ρ ℓ ν decay — Florian Bernlochner1, Zoltan Ligeti2, and •Sascha Turczyk3 — 1University of Victoria, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada V8W 3P — 2Ernest Orlando Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley, CA 94720 — 3PRISMA Cluster of Excellence & Mainz Institut for Theoretical Physics Johannes Gutenberg University, D-55099 Mainz, Germany
There exist a long standing tension among different determinations of the CKM matrix element |Vub| from miscellaneous (semi)leptonic B decay channels with varying significance of up to ∼ 3σ. An interesting possibility to ease this tension is to allow for a right-handed contribution to the standard model left-handed weak current mediating the b→ u quark decay. The current bounds on such a contribution are fairly weak. We propose a new way to search for such a right-handed current in semileptonic B meson decay to ρ mesons. We describe a new variable that we propose, discuss the theoretical uncertainties, and study the achievable sensitivity both from the available Babar and Belle data sets, as well as from an anticipated 50 ab−1 at Belle II.
