Performance of b-tagging in events tagged by HEPTopTagger — •Alexander Half — Humboldt Universität, Berlin

Top quark reconstruction at the Large Hadron Colldider is crucial for many analyses studying standard model processes and searching for new physics phenomena. A particular challenge appears in cases where top quarks have a large boost resulting into decay products that merge in the detector. For these situations top tagging techniques, such as HEPTopTagger, have been developed.

In this talk we present various aspects of b-jet tagging in events that have been tagged by HEPTopTagger. We studied the possibility to measure the b-tagging efficiency on data using the b-jet candidate kinematically identified by HEPTopTagger.

The performance of the standard ATLAS b-tagging algorithm in events tagged by HEPTopTagger is discussed and compared to a b-tagging algorithm developed by the ATLAS Wuppertal group that is optimized for boosted topologies.
