In December 2013, both the ATLAS and CMS collaborations reported evidence that the Higgs boson decays into τ leptons. The rate of these decays seems to be compatible with the predictions of the Standard Model. To determine if this boson is indeed the Standard Model Higgs boson, the current measurements have to be improved.
Decays of the type H→ττ offer a relatively easy way to directly probe the leptonic couplings of the Higgs boson. Subsequent decays of the taus into a muon and hadrons, respectively, offer the best sensitivity of the various decay channels. This talk will discuss possible improvements in selecting and analysing this decay channel at the CMS experiment, with the aim to improve measurements of the couplings and eventually to access the spin and parity properties of the boson.
