Measurement of the transverse momentum of Z bosons at the ATLAS detector with electrons in the final state — •Christoph Zimmermann — Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, Mainz, Deutschland
The transverse momentum of Z bosons produced in pp collisions provides an excellent probe for testing QCD predictions and for the tuning of Monte Carlo generators. This is of special importance in measurements of the properties of the recently found Higgs boson, in searches for physics beyond the Standard Model and in precision measurements of Standard Model parameters.
With the ATLAS detector, located at CERN, more than 20 fb−1 of collision data were collected at a center of mass energy of √s=8 TeV in 2012. Using this data, a measurement of the transverse momentum of the Z boson can be performed with electron pairs in the final state. Due to the fourfold increase of data compared to 2011, an improved precision in the high transverse momentum range is expected with respect to previous measurements. The current status of the analysis, as well as first results, will be presented.
